Oni Jerry can be accessed by receiving all of the masks then giving them to the mask-wearing humans in Asgore's castle by completing their optional encounters. When Asgore notes that you have no masks, he gives you one to challenge him, which is then stolen by friggin Jerry who uses the thing himself to become immensely more powerful, thus prolonging each of Asgore's patterns to and entire 2 freaking minutes, the JERK.
for my next trick i will reference an optional boss from an obscure jrpg that never saw an official english release
Unfortunately I don't know the names of anything in the Castlevania-clone ryona platformer Unholy Sanctuary, which makes it difficult to reference any of it in text.
The washer is a very important fixture in the bathroom of a Japanese household.
Well, okay, this is probably true in real life, but it's not funny unless you've seen a specific joke.
explanation: one particular video of someone playing Go Go Nippon, where he was faced with a picture of a naked girl in a bathroom, and decided instead to focus the camera onto the washer in the background.
In a series where you punch the Tower of Babel to death, work for the US ambassador to Japan, Thor, and where there are literal genitalia demons, one of the most consistently odd things to me in SMT is why nekomatas don't wear legwear.

I've got an obscure reference
"In the Mood" in A major is the song for being in costume as a tomato.
(The original is in A-flat major, FYI.)
explanation: a specific MAD that combines the Parodius version of that song (in A major) with the toma-tomato scene from Yuru Yuri
the purple flags that can't be picked up, in level 2 of episode 1
explanation: Duke Nukem 1, episode 1, level 2
Bomb the pink aliens to get back a bomb each time you do it.
explanation: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
