because we live in a fundamentally unequal and unfair society that shows no real signs of changing despite the best efforts of a large number of good people, and because the only way for the average person (ie. me) to cope with this fact is by being angry on the internet that people don't share my opinions on pop music.
when you're tired, your suprachiasmatic nucleus can't use your bodily rhythms to entrain your circadian rhythms as well, so it uses any rhythmic signal it can get a hold of, even from higher brain centers; but the song's rhythm isn't what the suprachiasmatic nucleus needs so it gets your brain to mentally speed it up a bit. it's not a very stable speedup, though
Fast music wears me out when I am tired, particularly when I have taken antihistamines and really need to sleep but find it hard to. Everything seems like it's hurtling by and taking forever at the same time.
Fast music annoys me when I'm tired, too. I'll enjoy fripside if I'm energetic but not if I'm tired. That's when I turn on some Ritsuko Okazaki instead.
