there is a new EP from Primitive Man out on the 17th and in the words of one reviewer: "It's uncompromising in its ugliness, relentlessly spewing spite and bitterness from every second of every song. "A Marriage With Nothingness" (the closing track on the EP) is one of the most uncomfortable songs I've ever encountered, to the point where I genuinely don't know if I ever want to listen to it again."
The single was pretty decent to my ears. It sounds like Coxon and Albarn are fighting each other to get to the centre of the mix. It could lead to an interesting effect if it leads to everything being spaced-out like it was on 13, which this song seems to hint at.
Pandora sucks--it doesn't recognize genre at all. I get this annoying synthpop tune, I dislike it, I suddenly get this annoying industrial-metal tune, I dislike it, I get another annoying synthpop tune....

taking a guess from your tastes, was all this from like the genre tag 'goth' or something? trad goth seems like the stuff you'd want if you wanna get more specific, or maybe post-punk, though the latter is also a very broad church

I looked at the genre tag, they don't have anything more specific. Also they seem to be focused mostly on The Cure and Depeche Mode, which discounts Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, Killing Joke, the Damned, &c &c
Yeah, "Goth" tends to encompass a lot of overlapping but ultimately unrelated genres at this point, particularly industrial offshoots and gloomy synth stuff that I doubt is your cup of tea. "Trad-Goth" is more what you are looking for, methinks—The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sound, and so forth—and while "post-punk" is certainly broader I have no doubt that you will have more luck finding things that you like under that header.
^ Ah, that is unfortunate. I would still try "post-punk," if it is there.
re pandora i was just going off how last.fm works because i have no real idea how pandora is supposed to work. anyhow if you want some cool less well known goth rock i'd suggest checking out Necropolis of Love, Decima Victima, and the french band Message
recently i also listened to the new blur single and it certainly was a song about going to the pub
mainly though i have just been listening to viet cong of late because adding noisiness and more electronic elements to interpol-style dancy indie rock was actually a super great idea
