I am slowly working on fleshing out more things for the campaign, I have a fair number of general locations fleshed out and i'm gonna be finishing working on the pantheon once vash gets his interbutts back because he knows lots of cool weird old religious tidbits that I could work in there.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Hey. Sorry I haven't been checking in lately. I've been swamped with finals and graduation stuff. I think I should still be able to work this in though.
I'll bug ignatius tomorrow to post his roguish rogue, I know for a fact he's basically done with it.
also can our characters have pre-existing relationships? He and I were toying with the idea of our characters being SO's or something (though we didn't settle on anything the last time we talked about it, so this question may end up being moot).
Maybe we should have a thread where we post and re-post significant things about our characters, including their stats and then we work out what their relationships might be from there. Every character gets a big "info post" that we update as a handy reference.
once i post the campaign world info tomorrow (this'll include deities, world political overviews, notable employers ect.) y'all can figure out how you want to get your characters involved in the campaign and whatnot.

Vaina Asrava is a wandering mercenary who specializes in assassinations. Her reputation doesn't reach far, but those who are familiar with her work always praise, if rather quietly, and only in trusted company. Everything Vaina does is in the pursuit of riches, she is greedy above all else, and wants to own as much wealth as possible, physical and spiritual. Because of this she is rather quick to make friends and is very protective of those she claims.
Appearance: Vaina is of average height for an elf, with a slight, lithe build. Her skin is a silvery hue, her eyes are amber, and her hair is straight and pure white. She wears leather clothing and armor primarily, and carries her daggers with her wherever she goes. Along several areas of her body are tattoos of concentric circles connected by lines, resembling charts of star paths.
History: Vaina doesn't like to talk about her past, but her strange appearance suggests she comes from a faraway land. Some of her associates theorize she's descended from dragons, explaining her strange skin color and greedy nature, but she never affirms these beliefs, only chuckling and saying that they can believe whatever they like.
Relationships: Vaina is currently dating Melfina van Boren. (Details to be finalized in cooperation with Mojave.)
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
RAWR surprise it's Miko the Mysterious Wolf Girl Mid-Boss! *tries to eat the party in a cut scene and then disappears into the woods* I will be back, and you won't know when! :O
how much info should be in the pre-game infodump do you think? I was thinking of a general idea for how I was thinking the campaign would go, along with some deets on the city-state you'll be starting in and some cultural information.
I guess once I do that i'll want to talk to people to figure out how they want their characters to relate to the setting and whatnot

And maybe a bit of info about major locations on the plain. Nothing really specific, just a sort of 'the elves live here, the dwarves live here, and all the crime happens thereabouts' sort of thing.
Oh, and anything about moon trolls, should they exist in this world.
The short of it: The fortunes of Markala have been on the rise for the two centuries. The city-state was once a backwater, a floating settlement of 1000-odd humans in a shallow sea, surviving only due to the patronage of Edress, a minor local deity of barter and fishing. This all changed, however, when Edress somehow claimed full jurisdiction over both trade and seafaring after the mysterious disappearance of both the previous sea god and goddess of travel/mercenaries/merchants (the war god got the mercenary portfolio in case you were wondering) Edress was now a major power in the grand scheme of things, and her most loyal followers in Markala received commensurate blessings. What was once a bunch of glorified floating sea huts anchored to the seafloor blossomed into a stone metropolis of canals reaching all the way to the mainland, a world power and a hub of trade.
Now, the impetus of our campaign starts about 100 years after all that went down, 50 years before the campaign starts, with Medrane, a capricious goddess of fire and insight. She, meandering about the world in her infinite boredom, decided to bestow upon a minor cleric of hers a profound knack for artifice. This man then went on to invent a sort of primitive fire elemental driven steam engine. This knowledge was guarded, the subject of intrigue, bartered with, all that good stuff, for quite some time until finally an enterprising Markarian matriarch acquired the schematics. She then commissioned a series of fire elemental driven steamships, which were parlayed into an even greater position of economic power.
Now, with tales of exotic goods across the waves resounding all about the continent, the current Matriarch has decided to commission a new fleet. This one will scatter in all directions, crewed mainly by mercenaries, in an attempt to find new lands and, if possible, secure trade negotiations with some distant leaders there has already been a measure of contact with.
Obviously, the idea is for the party to be crew members on one of these ships and for adventuring to occur and whatnot.
More info is forthcoming, any clarification questions are welcome.
* a largely agrarian human nation to the north. A place of lilting hills oft cut into terraces, surrounded by rough, impenetrable mountains on two sides, and bordered by a great river that forms a large delta fairly close to Markala. The architecture here tends to be cut directly into the earth via magic or of the gorgeous rose granite that is plentiful in the mountains, which is shaped by the greatly renowned sculptor clerics. Those who live in the mountains oftentimes heard a particularly hardy variety of goat. They export a great deal of wheat and sorghum, along with some of the aforementioned granite, which fetches a high price. They have cordial relations with the dwarven nation that exists in the mountain range to the north, and have had many disputes with the human nation to the southwest of them, mostly over the great river which they currently have full control over.
* Aforementioned dwarven nation in the northernmost mountain range. They cleave fairly close to your stock fantasy dwarves in a some ways, generally conservative, workmanlike, you know the drill. Some differences include their decidedly pacifistic nature, strong monastic tradition, cultivation of a traditional, acerbic sort of liquor from a sort of mountain fruit in lieu of the traditional dwarven ale, their great temples carved into the mountain peaks, and deeply religious society which attaches a great importance to the knitting of the wool of their holy goats. There are lots of knitting related idioms, family heirloom spinning wheels that are passed down through the centuries, and massive sacred tapestries. The goats are the sacred animal of their patron deity, who also has a significant following with some of the humans in the aforementioned human nation who live in the mountains in close contact with the dwarves. They mainly trade their much sought after acerbic liquor and silver dug out of the mountains for things they cannot get in the mountains, such as wood and grain.
also i'm sorry for not having a lot of these places fully fleshed out, a lot of the early campaign is exploring new places across the ocean and all that good stuff so the local societies were not my numero uno concern right off the bat.
other societies i have not mentioned so far: to the north of the dwarven mountains is a vast desert with nomadic druid desert elves, and on the other side of the large river you have something more akin to a traditional foresty kinda elf nation who do dope-ass tree shaping.
i'm gonna be working more on names tonight because im garbage with names
ALSO im working on the Kobold people/nation with vash, and if anyone has any input regarding things they would like to exist for the sake of their characters backgrounds feel free to PM me this world is not totally set in stone as of yet

There has been a surprising amount of real-life goings on and family stuff going on for me, sorry. >_>
