  For once, or maybe twice, I was in my prime.

  My parents' oven has a jack inside for plugging in a meat thermometer, so the oven can be programmed to automatically turn off once the meat reaches a certain temperature. The connector on the thermometer looks exactly like a 1/4" headphone jack:
