Oppositional are you? i don't think you're actually disabled, you're just lazy

but for srs tho can someone explain why special-ed teachers are all so completely stupid?
  • I had a friend who was sentenced to homeschooling because his parents caught him watching porn and they blamed the school for giving sex ed.
  • Wait, IEP isn't homeschooling. My bad.

    Yeah?

    Yeah.

It's like if your son's already watching porn at twelve years old then maaaaaaybe you're the problem.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    Yeah, that's... what.

I have dealt with decent special education people, but every once in a while you get one who seems to have slipped through the cracks by dint of the school system not knowing that you need brains to do the job. Like, there was this one woman at my middle school who just... she was just a fool, and I knew that I was smarter than she was even when I was twelve or whatever.

^ Better that than practising with others...
  • That's actually only a bit earlier (like a year or two?) than when I started watching porn, and I certainly didn't get a liberal sex education at St. Elizabeth of Hungary's Regional Catholic School.
  • kill living beings
is the op a math question

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^ Yeah, I never really had any interest in pornography, but that's around the time when I started getting at least vaguely interested in that sort of thing.

Weird how it took me until I was sixteen or so for it to dawn on me that I was bi, though.

^ It's a riff on how some people at IEP meetings seem to fail to understand basic math.

Fair enough. The kid didn't seem repressed or anything. If I had to guess, he was doing it because it seemed like a Thing Kool Kids Do or to piss off his parents.
  • The idea that any of you people ever thought you were straight at any point in time absolutely baffles me.
  • if you really wanna piss off your parents, develop an interest in the arts, oh yes.

If you REALLY wanna piss off your parents, buy real estate, in an imaginary place.

I used to actually be pretty homophobic due to some combination of a very traditionalist Catholic upbringing and self-loathing.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^^ I just don't think that I'd met the kind of guy that I would want to... do things with, or didn't recognise it fully when I did. And then I realised that I seriously had the hots for this boy in my algebra class and went, "Well, that cat's out of the bag."

Although I definitely had stirrings of homoerotic interest from at least the time I was eleven. I just didn't fully understand them.
  • all (with one exception but close enough) of my regular ed teachers i had in school, from 3rd grade to 12th, were incredible, understanding and helpful human beings who read my IEP when i gave it to them and asked me if I needed help and all that good stuff.

all (and i mean all) of my special ed teachers were thick as a brick, convinced that i was lazy, and only read my IEP in full like right before they had to go over it at IEP meetings
  • I am still far pickier with men than with women.

A fact that has gotten me called both a fake faggot and not a real bisexual, at points.
  • if you really wanna piss off your parents, develop an interest in the arts, oh yes.

    aww yissss

For most of my life I was too occupied with gender bullshit to give a fuck one way or the other about my orientation

I had really, really good regular teachers as well, with a few glaring exceptions that only added to my discomfort with going to school overall.

I was lucky with special ed people, but they were generally not very helpful. Nice, generally reasonably intelligent, but not helpful.

For a while I was assigned minders that followed me around to classes. Now, that was irritating.
  • Well, not necessarily baffles me so much as I can't even really imagine it. Like, I can't even really imagine CA as having ever considered herself male and I was there when she did.

I was also transphobic as fuuuuuck at the time but we don't talk about that
  • i realised one day that i was gay just kinda out of the blue

but i've found that i very, very occasionally find certain women attractive

but not enough for me to bother re-evaluating that label because even if i do think a chick is attractive it ends up being kinda transient

    THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Probably the worst SpEd staff I had to deal with was at a private alt-ed school in Charlottesville. The teachers and aides were nice enough, but the PD was a huge dick; est and boot-camp techniques don't work on ED kids, you asshole!

Then I went to another alt-ed school for 9th grade, which was public, and they were so much better. I actually was mainstreamed for all of 10-12, despite being kind of a mess when I got to Manassas.

I remember seeing you say that it was just you sorta sitting around and you thought "Why haven't I met any cute girls yet" and then you just sorta

    "Oh wait"
  • I have kinda just come to accept that many different kinds of people fall into the category of "I would jump their bones" for me.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I realized I was bisexual when I was 16

@Lee: An est freak? Jesus Christ. My mom knew the family of the guy who formed that. He claimed he was going to the hardware store one day and left without a word. They thought that he had died. Apparently the one time that she met him after he came back (many years later, for his daughter's wedding), she thought that he was just the creepiest motherfucker.

I like to thinking that knowing such a cool and totally awesome tranny as me helped break you out of that :P
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
There was abuse in my background, and it turned out years later that I was on the spectrum, so when I started liking girls, I had no idea what to do and just obsessed about them like a little kid who misses his mom. :P This persisted into adulthood, and it made things awkward, let me tell you. :P

No, in part because I had the hots for CA
  • u ruined my macklemore joke u butt
  • remember when Macklemore rapped over Axel F by Harald Faltermeyer.

It was mainly my rite of passage ritual where I set off into the wilderness to have bears maul me and tell me how much of a bag of dicks I am, but you certainly helped!

Remember when Macklemore guest-starred in the episode of 101 Dalmatians: The Series episode where Jim Jinkins blows up the Disney headquarters with his mind

the thing I was talking about actually happened

  • remember when Macklemore rapped over Axel F by Harald Faltermeyer.

    ...

Macklemore has risen in my eyes
  • "B-Boy" is actually the only Macklemore song I was familiar with before he became pop-famous.

I liked it. I still do, it's kinda corny but it's an alright song.
  • im trying to think of bands that i knew about before they became big

all im coming up with is death metal bands
  • I actually used to know a like, really into-it Macklemore fan back when the dude was still called Professor Macklemore.

I wonder what said fan thinks of his then-favorite rapper today.

I think Macklemore gets far more animosity than he deserves but I also genuinely don't understand how he could be anyone's favorite rapper. It's like having Sean Price as your favorite rapper. Yeah he's technically competent and sometimes comes up with good lines but you can't base your entire body of music around that.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I knew about fun. when they were completely unknown because of a friend of mine who knew a lot of weird bands at the time. Also, I knew about clipping. because of... Naney, actually, so there is that.

So lowercase-and-punctuation is good luck. I will remember that.
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
How old was I when I realized I wasn't "developing" the way I should, so to speak? 13.
  • I figured out about Thrift Shop a month before it got big and watched Gangnam Style the night it came out, but I'm not sure if those count.

Legit, though, I was raised on Daft Punk so their recent resurgence with the kids kinda has me going "welcome to the club"

    i agree kinda

macklemore does have a... very unique aesthetic. even if he's bog standard technically speaking, that aesthetic will draw in those it resonates with.

that aside this perfectly sums up my feelings on a lot of bands that i have a hard time articulating sometimes.

Note that I am using very vague terminology and being conservative with my age estimate.

i actually knew about clipping. because Renard was hyping them... >_>
  • I also heard "Mexican Jacket" by Speak! like the day it came out.

Speak! isn't exactly pop but he's respected in certain circles.

Not any circles I want a part of, mind, he's cartoonishly sexist and thinks lying about your gender should be a crime.

("Mexican Jacket" is also his only good song)
