Why did Media General merge with Young Broadcasting?

It was because it was the only way to stave off total world destruction

Now if you spend $89,000 on these pamphlets you'll read all about what the broadcasting industry DOESN'T want you to know

(hint: Gannett buying Belo disrupted reality and hardly anyone noticed)

imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
but why did Disney buy the Bear in the Big Blue House?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Because if they didn't, Sumner Redstone would have bought it

    Personally

It wouldn't have been owned by National Amusements or Viacom or any of its subsidiaries, it would have been owned by Sumner Redstone

Media General owns WTEN now, you know

    They got it from Young

I thought it was going to be a pun

Like "they found the fountain of youth" or something
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

Because you touch yourself at night.

Nothing ever happens when I do that...

    WNCN, once an NBC O&O

it escaped from the hell-house that NBC's O&O division had become by 2006

Also, the comparison my mind makes of Media General-Young to Cookie Jar-DIC makes me think that someone will scoop up Media General by 2017

    McClatchy? :P

(I do wish McClatchy owned broadcast TV stations so that I could talk about them more often, their name is fun to say)

(Incidentally, ex-Young station WKRN's callsign stands for "Knight Ridder Nashville" and WTEN was its sibling under Knight Ridder as well; McClatchy is Knight Ridder's successor and owns most of its old newspapers)

Incidentally, the German equivalent to the title of Knight was Ritter.

I know that bit of trivia about Knight Ridder's name...
