Especially tourists, who the ATM is presumably there for (I doubt the Pope ever needs to make a quick withdraw from his bank account to grab a sandwich at the local Subway).
Smee, Maiman, Doktar, Pavelier, Button-Lee, Juan Ovyu
Latin is actually an official language in the Vatican, so it makes sense they put it in that ATM, as a way to make tourists go "Oh that's neat". I'm sure there are other languages avaliable in the machine
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Yeah, if it's really intended for tourists, there's probably a language selection screen before you get dropped straight into Latin.
Nah, that's "A Muslim assassin is hired by the Pope's bastard son to kill the Pope for having a son and then to steal an anti-matter bomb to make science look evil."
semi-relatedly a few years back my little sister told me she wanted to be a goth and asked me what goth rock she should listen to so i sent her a youtube link to Friday I'm In Love and lemme tell you the look on her face was priceless
"Friday I'm In Love" is mastered just slowly enough to lower the song by a quarter-tone.
I actually like The Cure, but their post-Disintegration output is one hell of a mixed bag. Some of it is glorious, some of it is painfully kitschy or bland or flawed in the most puzzling ways... and a lot of it is squarely between the two. But then, I love The Top, and that album is undeniably one of the most excessive things in their discography, period.
^ Good song, but their proper "goth" stuff is more like... all of Faith and Pornography, plus tracks like "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" and "The Same Deep Water As You", I guess? The gloomy stuff. "Just Like Heaven" is pure guitar pop.
^^ Most older bands lumped into the "goth" thing really don't like being called that, or are just totally indifferent to the concept; and likewise, most actual goths have pretty eclectic taste in music, as far as I have observed. They do seem to dig EBM, post-punk, dream pop, industrial and black metal the most, though, which I can sympathise with.
But really, most goths don't take themselves very seriously. It's hard to take oneself seriously when dressed like that.
Most goths I've met were pretty cheerful folks, usually with wonderfully warped senses of humor. The trick is knowing the difference between goths and emos.

but we know the Vatican love their Comic Sans:
Doesn't excuse the Comic Sans though :P
i get so angry sometimes i just punch plankton --Klinotaxis
Every handout I've ever gotten from the local catholic church is written in a nice Gothic-looking font I can't identify.
idg why The Vatican specifically loves Comic Sans so much, maybe it's a joke amongst the younger clergy.
isn't that the plot of a Dan Brown book
like I'm not even kidding I'm pretty sure it is.

lots of people in culturally-Protestant parts of the world think inverted crosses are Satanic, after all
It was very nice, but since the cross was made out of onyx it made people think I was just really into The Cure.
