i had to miss the goodwill color tag sale and i shall have to wait until next week for the next one

also the milk carton on the stairs froze

i am rather miffed

    we keep a fair number of things on the stairs, in the winter they function as a rather large extra refrigerator

    also the few remaining cans of diet pepsi froze and also a yogurt

    also we had some very cold triscuits but that's not a big deal really

    Last month, I left some energy drinks in my car's trunk. When the first cold snap happened, several of the cans exploded.

    It's currently 9℉ here right now. I haven't had anything explode, though several things in my car did freeze over a few days ago (my glass cleaner is still icy, as is some of my soda).

    Honestly, i do get kind of defensive about this, i realize.  UK weather is generally mild, but changeable.

    i just don't understand why people go 'you don't know what a *real winter* is' like that's supposed to mean anything when what i do know is i'm shivering.

    That reminds me, there was a massive water main break in downtown Columbus yesterday

    The police and fire departments had to try and evacuate an office building, not because of any problem with the building itself, but because the building's exits were surrounded by frigid water (it was -10°F out, mind you) and there was no way for people to exit safely

    It took until early this morning for them to get the water line fixed

    The plug on one of our space heaters melted somehow way back. Spaceheater is also the title of a fine, fine EP by the shoegaze-y Florida sludge/noise/drone group The Goslings.

    it was 8 earlier, and that was in full sun. So god knows.

    we managed to fix one of the space heaters, so I have one for my room (the dinkiest one, of course), and we've got the kerosene heater for the downstairs.

    So hopefully we'll be OK.
