  No, see, you don't pronounce it "ER-toast".  You pronounce it "er-TOAST".  Because the original word was pronounced "TOAST-er".  Inflection does not magically change when you change the position of the syllable.
  
  Because if it did, it would no longer sound funny.  It would sound natural to the English guagelang.
