Evangelion is sort of a cavalcade of damaged people who have good reasons for acting the way they do, but there's so much of it you run out of fucks before too long.

This is sort of why Rebuild 2 is brilliant and 3 is such a let down.

Also, both 2 and 3 end with "Oh shit, Shinji's causing an Impact again", which sort of loses its charm when an Impact's already been averted.

Where the fuck can they even go for Final?

Shinji at least pulled a Gurren Lagann at the end of 2 which was so surprising, coupled with all the other developments it really felt like 3 could go anywhere.

And then we get three and it's pretty much back to business as usual, (but in spaaaaaaace!). :/
