  They do have the benefit of being on average more delicious than most food, finding a place that actully makes good gyros takes some effort. At least, in this city it does.

  Ugh, I've spent years trying to find a good gyros at Budapest. Thing is, I like shawarma, and gyros looked similar enough. And was sold at every corner. So I thought "Yay, shawarma!". Ugh, no. Every gyros I've tried been vile. Yet I've tried some more against my better judgement

  Philadelphia has a shocking number of places that serve gyro. Mostly places that specialise in something else (usually pizza) that happen to be run by Greeks because, well, it's Philadelphia. At worst, they are pleasant; at best, orgasmic.

  we have this weird restaurant called dino's gyros, they take a kinsa fast-food approach to greek food. Would be fantastic if it wasn't overly expensive for what you get. Also the proprietor is a wannabe lounge singer and you can buy his CDs over the counter and the cover has just hims sitting on a stool against a white background and it is just the funniest thing.

  For once, or maybe twice, I was in my prime.

  I wanted to assume that they're fried onions, but they really look more like french fries and OH WAIT there's already not-fried onions in that gyro so those are totally french fries what the heck.
