The worst part about FATAL is not so much the presence of all the terrible things but the attitude towards these terrible things. Games can include rape in a meaningful and respectful way. Same with misogny. You just make it clear that misogyny is a flaw and ensure that rape has consequences. FATAL treats misogny like it's a rule of law because it's supposed to be 99% based on Medieval Europe (which is lies and slander against Medieval Europe). That is why it is terrible.

I thought perhaps that all that romancey white-knight-of-justice-and-unrequited-love stuff was just an ideal of the period and not a thing that actually happened. :) and I knew that knights were basically just murderers >_>
The public perception of the Middle Ages is tainted by the number of fantasies in pop culture. It's difficult to even discuss the Middle Ages with the common man without dispelling a number of myths at the start.
