Whether one despises self-styled "transgressive" publishers or admires them for their gall, they tend to take those sort of principles extremely seriously, and those who choose to be published by them—if publishable anywhere else, of course—are often of a similar mind. It is a very extreme form of free-speech worship, but not an entirely incomprehensible one.

Huh. Sounds like an endorsement. I particularly like how this guy(?) chews out the publishing company before praising the book.
It's not exactly high on my too read list given all the classic novels and mythology books I own and haven't even read yet.
You should read his work anyway. His prose style can be a bit overwrought, but he had a great knack for slow-building creepiness. "The Rats in the Walls" (in which the aforementioned cat appears) is seriously one of the best horror stories of that period.
However... I honestly think that his poetry was a lot better than most of his prose. Fungi from Yuggoth, in particular, has some really beautiful moment.
