They made CB and LPS because the IPs were gathering dust...the CB thing was a dumbass gaffe by The Hub's PR firm, and LPS has a small, unironic fanbase (Hasbro doesn't even own CB, American Greetings does)

*LOTS OF WORDS* you know, i think the best thing about their relationship is that Pinkie isn't easily offended. Dan's moodiness never drives her mad. She sees that Dan tries to look naughty and tough only to hide his tender heart. Deep inside he's a little kid, who wants to be loved and appreciated, like anyone else. All those 'awful' things he does is just a way to grab attention.
Pinkie is probably the only one who actually understands him.
Because she's also a child at heart. And these two actually have a lot in common: both had difficult childhood, both are creative, both are somewhat misunderstood by the world. (i also love to think that both Dan and Pinkie were close to their grandmas as children). But Pinkie (unlike Dan) has got friends who love her and need her. She knows how important it is! Dan is, in fact, a very sweet and sensitive person, he secretly looks for someone who he can trust, someone who would love him and care for him. Pinkie is willing to give him it all. As soon as he realises it's true, then... i think he will love Pinkie to death))

If we're talking the recent movies, than I think the issue here is much worse...everything.
I'm not a huge fan of the more recent Transformers movies, but I got the impression they where simply better than either the GI Joe movies or Battleship.

I kinda wonder if G.I. Joe's movie had the budget and solid story of the Transformers movie if the franchise would have done better as a whole.
I remember liking both quiet well as a child, but in hind-site, neither is written particularly well save the Transformers movie.
No, no, I mean the attempts made after 2007'sTransformers made a billion dollars. There was no Battleship cartoon, and I'd be surprised if GI Joe wasn't slightly bigger than Transformers in the '80s.
I wouldn't say that Dan is sweet or sensitive. I believe that, at his heart of hearts, there's a good bit of Dan that's self-aggrandizing. But besides that, that was a good point made.

I agree that I think the artist is perhaps giving Dan probably a little too much credit here. I think "sweet" and "sensitive" are probably qualities Dan could show if some(pony)one got him to care about them enough that he'd actually focus on them, but I wouldn't say they're qualities he'd probably ever show to anyone else.
Also, I don't think Dan just does what he does to get attention, as he seems to honestly think (and is occasionally right) that his targets deserve what is coming to them. But with his constantly involving of Chris and often over the top methods for achieving his ends, I think it wouldn't be too hard to make a case of some of Dan's motivation coming from a misguided attempt at getting attention.
But I thought the point of both of them being "children at heart" is what sort of sells the pairing. I agree that the a fairly logical outcome here is Pinkie's love and friendship wearing at Dan's exterior until he ultimately feels like reciprocating.
Though, I envisioned this as more Pinkie pushing Dan until he swore revenge (which probably takes all of 30 seconds) and then the whole thing plays out like a Chuck Jones cartoon until Dan actually SUCCEEDS in his scheme and breaks Pinkie to the point where he realizes he's gone too far and has to make amends some how...
Yeah, I've probably spent too much time thinking about this...

The Thanksgiving episode showed a VERY different Dan as Elise's parents actually treated him nice, so he in turn was nice to them.
I stand by my theory that Pinkie would end up on the list before Dan stops being hostile towards her via Pinkie's attempt at friend making rubbing him the wrong way, but Dan's hostility would probably crumble pretty quickly when he started giving her a chance.
Well, a lack of things working against it mostly. Not much going for it except Roxy thinks John is potentially boyfriend material after spending probably all of 30 minutes with him or less.

So is "Embodiment of Scarlet Devil" a Touhou thing?
Eurgh. I never got why people like that song so much. It works in the specific context of fighting an insane and obliviously murderous creepy loli in the basement of a vampire's castle (and probably would have been less obnoxious in places if ZUN had as much experience with the instrumentation as he does now and toned back the organs), but it's really not that good a song in itself.
Of course, now I'm obligated to give you a better one, so here.
Oh, and as for the Rainbow Dash stealing Twi's books, it's not only a Touhou gag, but a big enough one to spawn entire professional-sized fangames (as in, more than one). Like, probably most infamously, this.
