well it depends

if he's in the Army, his chances of making Corporal as a rank are about the same as him winning the lottery. "specialist" is the standard E-4 rank (which is not an NCO rank) and Corporal is super-rare. During my four years in I saw thousands of specialists but only 1 army corporal that I can remember

in the Marines, we're pretty common
