but i mean like, they tell putzho he ain't leavin, and then five minutes later they let him go with a warship. after telling a story the moral of which could be considered "don't intervene". what is he even going to do? if it's stopping the first strike, seems like they're getting along with that fine without him, and sending the new guy for that, with a never before seen ship, is bizarre. if it's helping the first strike, that's also contradictory to what ulaque said.
On that note, different kind of inconsistency, but you know what's weird? The treatment of lawyers
There's plenty of "first thing we do" kind of cracks all through the comic. It starts at the extreme end with lawyers being a hive mind of literal snakes, but still recurs throughout
But Massey is, like, the most consistently ethical character besides the Reverend, and the Reverend usually advises rather than acts. He's introduced as a public defender, which is pretty much the obviously least evil kind of lawyer (unless you're a douchebag who thinks accusations should be convictions, but i digress) and almost everything he does is positive, finishing off with founding a state.
The only thing i can think of contrary is letting the company get away with nuking an empty building and taking hostages, and even then it still comes off nice because he's helping the company, and in-story everything is the fault of the UNS.
It came up in the last Sunday strip. I was so beleaguered that I didn't even remember that Foxworthy was Elf's last name. It does neatly take care of Elf's issues with having her husband promoted above her, I presume.
and actually i figured that because it doesn't seem like his relations with his family are the best anyway, and he'd probably prefer to be elf's husband than the earth hegemon's brother.
also also, i really just see it on his face as hwan being high as fuck at all times
I dunno, it's kind of like the 'Jar Jar's secretly a sith lord' theory. It works just enough to be entertaining. Also, him accidentally shooting Nogg when the missiles were launched was just slightly too convenient.
hwan, i think if you have enough "sleight of hand" to pickpocket an alien with a body type you've never seen before, and who is actively trying to murder you, you'd be pretty damn good in a fight
the current obstacle in Awful Hospital is a guy who thinks that he may be a kind of doppleganger with an entirely false identity and memories, apparently solely on the basis that the situation is generally incomprehensible. so while he might on some level want to help, it so happens that doing so would be counter to his identity, which would not really help his existential condition, so he's gonna fight anyway
It kind of reminds me of that one SCP about the doctor who got copied by an anomaly, and since they can't tell them apart, they're both imprisoned forever.
yeah, there's a couple like that. bogleech obviously likes SCP foundation - he wrote at least one that's not in the archive, it's buried somewhere on his website, Dr. Phage mentions a K class scenario at some point, etc... most of the comic world is based on perceptual differences that tie in obviously with SCP's memetic and ███████████ devices. like ████'s stories. latest one is based on researcher grudgingly accepted that she probably has been married for the last several years
it only just hit me that this girl genius story is about an evil chamber of commerce
and "you know everything, therefore you knew about this plot, therefore you tacitly approved of, supported, or even designed it, even though there is no direct evidence for this at all, therefore die" is amazing
and and, i still think the chief is behind this somehow (e.g. by planting evidence of the plot, then renting out his old subordinates; it seems unlikely that they could be contracted or employed normally given that you can't remember they exist)
