To be fair, the dragon one was pretty wild and had some emotionally intense moments beyond the "OH JESUS THAT THING," particularly with Lily, but this one is bruising in a very different way that I was not at all expecting. And the politics, and yet more wild worldbuilding.
So, I remembered Night Physics existed and binged it.
It's maybe one of the most visually stunning comics I've ever read, but despite the strong comic timing it is *not* an upbeat read. Which is to say it's what I want be when I grow up, art-wise.
narbonic and girl genius are both comix about mad scientists but the former was somehow often a bit more serious about the madness part, and had a real good scene of losing it in the chapter of the same name
girl genius really hasn't, despite having far more named psychos. the main character goes mad mostly off screen and her situation is weird anyway. so seeing colette ignite while ranting about proper municipal governance is pretty choice, especially with her being only the second female spark
We also got some confirmation on where the series is going. All of the arcs are going to be wrapped up somewhere around 2020-2021, but after that, there's going to be a new series in the same universe.
yeah so... does this mean this is beausoleil's (holy shit, spelled it correctly the first time) real body? because frankly i was expecting some kind of fleshy horror at this point.
I just asked an author of skin horse whether the storyline about identifying as an attack helicopter was at all related to the bad joke, and she said no, so that's a pretty frickin weird coincidence
jacques managed to hit the sci-fi authoring point of knowing more than most people but still writing gibberish technobabble, with the "maxwell's demon" comic
