To clarify, the reason I dislike it is because it implies that expressing an opinion is in itself something rude and shameful. I feel like whoever came up with the phrase was probably not very tolerant of differences in opinion.
That, and the saying just strikes me as needlessly crude and much less clever than people seem to think it is.
