Likable as a character in fiction rather than someone I have to deal with? They have similar flaws to mine, or failing that, interesting ones. (Flaws I have interest me, but only out of narcissism.)
More serious answer: they have flaws but they try to deal with them and be a decent person rather than just being some out-and-out villain.
hey. poisoning the municipal water system with nanomachines to turn everybody in Metropolis into sheep is a way to try to deal with your feelings of inadequacy as a farmer. It's just not very effective is all
