I kind of wish that I played guitar. I know, very generic, but the conbination of chords and noise potential is pretty irresistable. And analogue synths! Also, bass. Love the bass. And the viola, and cello.
Listen to my song. The mix is kind of eh but it is a pretty good song. It has a Jane beat on it.
And speaking of Jane! Solid EP, long cuts were great and the ahort interludes were pleasant, but I kind of wish you'd taken another step or two and just rolled the really short tracks into continuous longer things. Like, if you put transitions between some of your short cuts and one of your long cuts you'd have a whole suite.
re: Sredni: Tune wasn't quite in my wheelhouse as far as what I typically go for, but it was still interesting! I liked the synth you used on the lead parts.
I also get what you were saying about the mixing (particularly during the louder sequences) but that seems like an easy fix. Overall, I'd say it does what it sets out to do pretty well. :)
^^ Other than the massive wubbing death synth on the chorus and the pianos, that's all pure wave forms pitch-shifted, chopped together and put through treatments. It took a while, but it it worked out nicely. And yes, once I get everything clearly audible, clipping-free and correctly balanced, I'll be golden.
It's the way that one of the notes in the bassline harmonises uneasily with the samples. It's dissonant in a very specific way, and combined with the actual tone of the bass there, it feels like a storm rolling in.

(also I vaguely recognize your picture on SC now, if only due to a wiki walk from a few days back)
I could very easily see Warp or Hospital putting this out without any changes
^ It's a fucking banger, innit?
E-Phonic Lofi seems to be what you're talking about. Being a Mac user I have no experience with it, alas. Seems neat.
^ Huh. I feel vindicated.
I'd read this primer if you're not used to using distortion.
