Fun Fact: The percussion on Dusk's Haven is actually me shaking a bottle of pills that I recorded eons ago
And the detuned synth is something I picked up on in mid-production. It's a neat trick I picked up with one of the LMMS instruments that I use often, so expect to see more of it!
The strangest sample I've probably used was a bit of dialogue by Globox in a drunken state in Rayman 3, in which he states, "Please note that I am also endowed with twenty deformation bones and sixteen animations, resulting in a kind of flexibility that comes in handy during combat, and in more... intimate situations, hmm hmm."
I typed that all from memory and that's honestly kind of sad.
So apparently I need a license to release a cover song. To get one, I decided to sign up for Loudr. Things are going alright, but then it requires my tax information and there are some questions I don't know how to answer. I didn't know this band was officially a business or how it's classified: I never incorporated it...
If you release it for profit, you mean. You can just post it online for free and I'm pretty sure nobody will care. It's like posting a mixtape or something. No money changes hands and they can't sue you.
I mean, no offence meant, but it's not like you have thousands of people who will spread the word and get you in trouble anyway.
you all should tell me what you think about this I made it in one day
Some of the ideas here are really interesting, but if I'm going to be completely honest, the mixing and arrangement here is bizarre and a couple of the instrumental timbres sound Casio-cheap. Now, I love wilfully janky shit, but the way you've gone about it sounds less intentionally wrong or "so wrong it's right" than it does awkward and unfortunate.
The thing is, though, that you could improve things dramatically with but a few small adjustments: Turning down the vocals and integrating them into the mix better (and maybe find a better take for the lead; it's... off), playing around with the drum machine sounds to make them sound less preset-y, and maybe emphasising the distorted quality of some of the synth tones you're using in the other instruments so everything feels less uncomfortably heterogeneous—or maybe emphasise that difference more by making everything sound different and occupy a different frequency range, perhaps? That's up to you.
Now, that said, I singled out the distorted keyboards because they are necro as fuck in the best way. Again, it's not like I'm saying "EVERYTHING SUCKS, GO HOME." I'm saying it needs work.
Speaking of the new and the weird, the album will be up for potential purchase (and on What.CD, for you evil torrent fiends) by the end of the day. Sit tight.

Thanks! Sometime, maybe later this week, I'll try and integrate those. The mixing of the vocals shouldn't be too hard: I'll have to see what I can do about the rest.
Soundcloud doesn't like my browsers, so I can't hear that, alas. But yes, that's presumably what I mean, although they merge in this strange way due to the mixing so the guitar sounds like another keyboard.

Cool, thanks! If I were to do it again, I'd make it a bit quicker, TBH. This song was largely inspired by "God in an Alcove"
Unfortunately not. I was going to try to use one of your beats on "Resurrection Men", but I think I spent a bit too much time on that track as-is... >~>;
Still get a very heavy Ariel Pink vibe from the vocal stylings. The rest I honestly find it hard to come up with reference points for, but it's all very good for what it's trying to do.
A bit noisier than I would have made it, but you're yourself and not me, so that's just fine :P
The part in "Toy Sword" where the super bassy drums come in makes me think of a really old video game where you're just wandering around and everything seems pleasant and then rocks start falling on you.
Also, "Moonlit Club" should have some gauzy, grotesquely treated vocals over it, or maybe just buried in the mix. In my head it does, at least.

It's literally the culmination of years of work. It's like my own personal Deathconsciousness, except it's just me, being... me.
Sorry to steal your thunder. I will be listening to your album with great interest. Always happy to see you release new material.
