I got up at like, 2 or so in the morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so I ended up starting work on that remix for Yarrun.
Now, what I've produced is barely a remix and quite frankly it's a bit ironic that someone else's song has become the most indulgent, messy thing I've done in a long while. However, another more tactful, downbeat remix is forthcoming, which is why this has a different title than the original song.
Regardless, I think the result is interesting if nothing else.
takes a bit to get into its own, but the stuff you get into around 2:30 or so is pretty cool sounding, if a bit on the short side in comparison to the build
Vocaroo compressed the hell out of this, but whatever. Someone's experimenting with a new DAW~
I finally decided to try FL, and with a lot of random experimentation (and a single quick Google search on how the hell you were supposed to sequence patterns :P) I came up with a little something. Not album-worthy or single-worthy by any means (hence why it is on Vocaroo) but this exists.
i made a nifty synth patch but it eats up too much cpu so i cant use it for anything really so here it is playing some chords and shit enjoy it in all its psychedelic, gritty lo-fi goodness
it was originally gonna be a string pad type thing but the synth choked up when put into polyphonic mode so yeah
Yeah, there are a lot of genres know for that kind of compression, but even if you're not working in those it's still perfectly acceptable to have a short LP/tape/album.
not that me at my best could garner more than a 6/10
I should try taking up singing, practice and stuff in places besides the shower or my bedroom in the dead of night, maybe get some actual instruction. That might be fun.
Just remember this: one usually gets the best tone with an open mouth. A lot of people sing with their mouth half-closed and that can really affect how good the tone is.
Also breathe with your stomach and not with your shoulders. Ideally, nothing should be moving besides your stomach when you breathe. If you're moving your shoulders as you breathe in, chances are that you're getting a shallow breath.
I'm by no means an expert on this, but these are the stand-bys that I've been using for the last half-decade or so.
Another bit of advice from someone with a tiny modicum of training: Always remember to sing through your head, not your nose... unless you intentionally want to sound nasal, which is a different matter.
also, it is embarrassing, but dont be afraid to sing loud, and also record yourself. that is how i became passable, just playing round with how i was singing and listening back, thinking, is that good?
You do some really groovy stuff with the synths during the intro and those drum patterns are hella. I thought the way the dums came in was a bit weird but I suppose it's more interesting than just having them drop into the mix.
in related news, upcoming releases! For real this time.
Forever & Ever: Second "winter" album I've done this year, and the last. Making music like this is kinda depressing. Has gone through like thirty different titles. Will be out by the end of the week.
tunes made in sands: summer album, has "Pipes of Astrakhan" and "Wide Ocean Shot" on it. Coming out at....some point. Skullboy Entertainment & Mojave Music Present: The Sun-Tape Edits: the aforementioned dubby edits project. Not sure if I'll be able to release this on bandcamp but Jaydio is on there so hopefully it won't matter.
If you (or anyone else for that matter) wants to contribute to the project, feel free, just run whatever song you're going to be remixing by me first, I'm trying to keep a cogent aesthetic here.

I really like this one ^_^
it's not finished. I think I may just do a tape of these.
I'm going to do more of these, definitely. It's simple and fun.
