It's not the Amen Break in itself, but it's a transcription of the first measure or so of it. Well, the first ten seconds are. After that, it's a variation on it for most of the rest of the song.
And thank you, I appreciate any commentary I can get.
it occurred to me a few days back that i was getting to comfortable with my stuff, i was following a too-familiar routine and it was causing a lack of development on my part
soooooo I decided to tackle making something much more rhythmically complex than my usual fare!
It was challenging, but fun and quite rewarding. It's just a wee snippet, but it might become something more later...
also i am annoyed that FL studio disables max polyphony by default when rendering, i had to render this project twice because i forgot about that >:/
alsoone of the drum sounds does not seem right, i will need to see what is up with that but w/e
The first Pink Kokane EP is finished, and will be put up on Bandcamp sometime this week.
I haven't been getting a lot of feedback regarding material under that alias, so I'm not sure if anyone here is excited for that, but, regardless, it is happening.
also the PK self-titled will be a bit longer in the making than expected. Seems that three of the seven songs got their files corrupted somehow, I'll have to remake them from an older save of the project.
Also I will have that PK art soon. I started working on it in Windows, but I think I'm probably going to go back to my Mac because it's capable of doing the Funky Stuff I wanted to try out.
Made an interesting trap-like beat but overlaid it with some samples and aesthetics to make a combination I haven't actually heard before. I like it a whole lot and I hope you guys will too.

Sounds a bit off at higher volumes. After I took it down a couple of notches and listened to it again, I liked what you did with your samples. As a mere classical composer, I can't really say much about the beat, but it sounds good.

....iiiiiiiii like this a lot actually! beat is good, nice everything else, keep it up!
It's just that after absolutely everything I make getting labeled as 'some sort of videogame music' by my friends and family, that specific nerve's wearing thin.
like try listening to some berlin school stuff and try using those sorts of synth sounds, as they already kinda fit with your more academic theory-focused thing you have going on
is there any decently reliable way to suck the bass out of a sample?
I want to loop a particular track but said loop has bass drums in it which clash with the drums I already have on the track. Can't really figure out a solution.
there are two ways to do it, and i think it is important for you to know both so i'll give you a quick run-down
First, you can use a filter! add a plugin called "fruity free filter" to the track you want to remove the frequencies to, move the second knob to "high pass", and all the frequencies below number of the "freq" knob to the left of that one will be filtered out. also note that if you change the filter type to "low pass" it will filter the frequencies below that one instead. This exact functionality is integrated into a lot of synths, so it's good to know about.
Secondly you can EQ the frequencies out. Add the plugin called "fruity parametric EQ 2" to the track, and it'll look something like this:
now, if play your sound you will see those orange bands, with the brightness of the orange indicating the volume and the position of the bands representing frequency, the left being low and the right being high. you can then click and drag the circles around to effect the volumes of different frequencies. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT PLUGIN YOU HAVE. PERIOD. so try to get the hang of it!
it is supposed to be a flat line, you then use the circles to move the line around, the lower the line in the area the quieter sounds of that frequency will be.

You could use it as an album opener for sure though.
oh well.
Here is a thing. It is a fair bit happier than what I have otherwise been doing lately.

PK!
Pink Kokane -- Pink Kokane EP (November)
Pink Kokane -- PK Overload! EP (December)

Devil-Eye -- there's a little HeLL in all of us
Pink Kokane -- Hate Sex LP (January) [tentative title]
Mojave Music -- The Real Authentic Pirate Radio Collection (2014)
also it's good. The intro is maybe a bit overlong, but that's really the only thing I can think of that I dislike about it.

I ended up not using the sample anyway but I have bookmarked your post for future reference.
I opened it in the Mixer and it just displayed like, a flat line. So I'm doing something wrong, clearly.
hwelp
I should really crack open these other plugins I never use more often.
I'm off to find more pirate radio broadcasts I can use to make Real Authentic Pirate Radio stick to its theme.
