I find it to be pretty calming, to be honest. Really mesmerizes, calms you out of your skull.
So, I redid the thing that I uploaded, like, a week ago. The current composition of it kind of resembles film music, which is generally looked down upon. For all I know, I kind of ruined it. But it's longer, and there's a bit that's basically Db Lydian, and I'm stepping over my boundaries, which is...good, I guess. I also think it works better as a second movement than the first version.
I'll post it once I get the kinks out of the recorded version.
Somewhat perplexingly, I've gotten 33 plays on my soundcloud today (it's only 1:30 PM here). Those numbers are unheard of for me, and I haven't posted anything super-recently, so I don't know what's going on.
On the one hand, I sort of pulled an Araabmuzik on this one, since I flipped a sample of a relatively well-known pop-trance song ("I See Right Through To You"), on the other hand....well it's seven minutes long and it's really not a rap beat.

meh.
I really, really like this. Especially that middle section. The whole thing is very atmospheric and surreal and I dig that.
On that note, send me some stems so we can get the ball rolling on this collaboration thing again. I want to do this. I think that it will be marvellous. I shall also be sending you more material to dissect soon, if you would like...

I can send you the stems for that if you want, you'll probably be able to do more with it than I did.
I can also send you those stems for "Night After The Fire", I've been meaning to but I keep forgetting.

since soundcloud has decided to barf on "untitled (Cold Rain)" which is what I was going to upload, have an extended version of the ungodly obnoxious synthfest that is Really Really Big Sky. Spot the cheap interpolation and win a prize (spoiler: the prize is NOTHING)!

You know, the basic ingredients to this track may be ridiculously simple, but I really like what you do with all of the little interweaving melodies and sounds. It's really very cool.
My main suggestion for improvement would be to treat the hi-hat and snare sounds to either reduce or increase their artificiality. While the cardboard thump of the kick really works in context, the other drum timbres sound cheap in a not terribly interesting way. Everything else jives pretty well, though, especially those tangy metallic synths.
immna be trimming down the first drop and working on the mix at least some before i consider it finished though, suggestions/feedback welcome
A longer decay/release (possibly augmented with slight reverb) on the lead synth that enters with the beat would be really nice; as it stands, I love the timbre, but the way each note ends so abruptly kind of bugs me.
Otherwise, excellent. Maybe I would have more small things going on in the mix—glitchy little fragments and small samples—but that's purely personal sensibility rather than any demand. The underlying synths, in particular, are to die for.
...but I don't have Audacity. The only thing that I would use it for would be reversing things because Garageband sucks less in nearly every way...
Maybe I should download it, solely to do weird little experiments, then put them back into Garageband so that I can treat them so that they sound less terrible.

ok I listened while they did the channel plugging.
That does sound similar actually. Which tells me that clearly either Def Leppard ripped off Swans or the other way around.
I think I will say the latter because the idea is funnier.
thing
starts as like avant-gardey or whatever and then gets more traditionally my lazy trip-hop sound later on lol.
I'm currently working on a more reigned-in "traditional" trip-hop rework of Pt. II.

i was bored and designed something that works like a wavetable synth via clever usage of automation clips

This is kind of in the same vein, except that AN Untitled Story wouldn't be using a guitar riff.

if you say so. IDK I think it might make a good video game backtrack or something.
I have no idea what to tag that as by the way, so if any of you know what genre that is, feel free to tell me.
did anyone spot the interpolation yet

I think this is the first thing I've done ever that I would categorize as "sleek".
and it's a flip of the Spelunky title music. Totally sleek. Sleek as fuck.

this is pretty embarrassing but I don't actually know how to reverse the entire track in FL Studio.
you could just download it and open it in Audacity and do that though.
