    honestly i'm glad those two cases were both returning champions because getting just the dollar on your first day and then the $1000 for third place on your second would be strictly worse than getting the $2500 for second place on your first day and you'd just be thinking to yourself "i shouldn't've won"

    the "not" was meant to negate the "only two instances" part, since there have been other times where people won by a margin of $1.
