Did the Discovery Channel ever have a golden age?

  I think if you look at the time period from when The Discovery Channel started, to when The Learning Channel started, the first half of that interval is probably the golden age of The Discovery Channel.

  I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat

  The Discovery Channel just seemed to have better backing, and was by 1991 big enough to buy its older rival

  
  

  Discovery Wings always felt kinda overly-specialized...Discovery had an insane amount of spinoffs
