Can we talk about how bullshit it is when a college course...

...requires a particular online service?

Like, requiring a particular textbook makes sense, because textbooks are a physical object that can be bought and sold, and the existence of multiple booksellers means they actually have to compete on price.

But when your course requires a specific online service there's typically only one provider and you're effectively locked into a monopoly. If you need to take that class, you have to give that one company your money, and said company knows you have no choice in the matter, so they can charge as much as they want.

*sigh* It's back to school time again.
