Central Ave, what happens if you're at a left turn light but no matter how many cycles you wait through it WILL NOT TURN GREEN for you? You're justified in saying "fuck the police" and just turning when it's clear, rite?
Usually that means either (a) you're not actually over the loops in the pavement, or (b) you're driving a Smart car or a motorcyle or some other thing that's incapable of tripping the detector.
In any event, I'd imagine you could be ticketed but could probably fight the ticket fairly easily. But IANAL, of course.

There's one intersection out in Pataskala where they fucked up massively: the loops in the pavement are two car lengths back from the painted stop bar, but at night the intersection is fully actuated.
Which means if you happen to be the only car at the intersection at night and you pull up to the stop bar, the light ain't gonna turn green. Twice I've gotten caught on this and had to back up over the loops to make it turn green.
Well, I was behind two other vehicles in the left turn lane. The first one - a large SUV kinda thing - sat there for about three cycles before saying "fuck it" and turning. The second one followed suit and so did I since I am a spineless crowd-follower. Never had this problem with that light before.

Bizarre. It's possible the detector was broken, I suppose, though most controllers treat a broken detector as if a car is always detected...
