DENVER - For much of the last year, billionaire and media magnate Anonymous User has not left the Communications Center in downtown Denver.
However, he is ready to speak with us once again.
His company, ABC Lionsgate, is the former ABC Inc, having taken its current name in March upon a merger with Lionsgate. He now owns Lionsgate, and with it the box-office hit The Hunger Games, Summit Entertainment, and its blockbuster Twilight franchise. In July the company also acquired Classic Media, the owner of properties such as Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, Lassie, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman for a $540 million sum.
"I had to have a movie studio," he said on the merger, six months later. "It's paid off, I think."
He also described the Classic Media acquisition as something he did because "it seemed like fun".
Though he believes that the company is now closer to the media empire he envisioned it as when he founded it in 2010, he still hungers for more property.
When we spoke to him he had apparently not slept in at least several weeks, evident in his constant laughter at seemingly nothing, slurred speech, and facial appearance. As a result we cut the interview short and had his valet take him back to the Communications Center.
