I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Comic Sans hate kinda bothers me. It seems like some kind of parody of actual type enthusiasts' concerns over its misuse. I can understand just disliking a typeface, though.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Two things about that:
1. Comic Sans hate is, from what I've seen, often deliberately overblown for comic (pun kinda intended) effect. Even though it's usually not that funny.
2. I think most people don't object to Comic Sans in and of itself so much as they object to its massive misuse. Most of the "haters" wouldn't give a fuck if it was used on a 5-year-old's birthday invitation or something.

Hmm...it's late night, there doesn't seem to be much traffic around...FLASHING SIGNAL TIME!

Also, honestly, most strong opinions about type come across as an overreaction to me. See most of the type-related comments on Brand New, for instance, where a slightly uninspiring or clichéd typeface usually provokes oddly strong reactions.
Whereas Comic Sans is so obnoxious and so commonplace that the hate for it really doesn't surprise me, particularly since most people ought to know better by now.

Most of the type-related comments on Brand New these days seem to be variations on "OH GOD, NOT MORE GOTHAM"
