Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

From a certain interpretation, we are traveling through time at a nearly constant rate.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Well, I can't entirely condemn time travel as a plot device, since I have occasionally enjoyed works involving it. But the thing is this: the essence of time is its inevitable march. It just continues on, steadily, leaving the past to fade into memory. That's what gives it its power and terror and fascination. If you can travel to anywhere in time, as though you were catching a flight to Switzerland or Japan, that destroys the whole thing. Changes the whole game. Ruins it.
I therefore don't intend to ever use time travel in a story.
If you have a time machine, then different time periods become just another place to go to. 1994 or 1988 stops being some unreachable, nostalgic memory and becomes as real as a trip to the grocery store. What the fuck is that.
