the pilot chapter of centaur's worries is this bizarre thing where she's worried about the appearance of her labia. it's pretty different from the manga proper and quite bizarre
I'm listening to Arkada's Log Horizon 2 review and I'm like, kinda wanting to return to it and finish it up? Maybe?? I ended up taking it off of my dropped list for reasons I can't remember, and I did only have, like, 8 episodes left...
I mean if any show is going to be better dubbed it's going to be the one that's set in the US and has the English VAs do appropriate regional accents, right?
I considered that implicit in it being amazing, but yeah.
Yeah, Baccano! has one of those dubs which the vast majority of people seem to consider an improvement on the original or at least its equal, along with Cowboy Bebop, YuYu Hakusho and Ergo Proxy.
That reminds me. I watched the first episode of Bebop in Japanese, and will now continue that way because inertia... but definitely expect to watch it again in English. YYH has been too long ago and my memory is too fuzzy for me to trust the positive memories. EP is, man, that was enjoyable.
Hope this doesn't come across as trying to influence your decision or anything another than a personal IMO, but as someone who has seen Bebop in both languages multiple times, I generally recommend watching it in English first. Both are really damn good, but the English dub just nails a lot of the nuance of the characters' personalities, though I will admit I'm fairly biased since I saw the English dub first. I just love the Bell Peppers and beef scene in English.
Also, I personally would add GiTS, both the movies and the TV series, to the list of dubs that are as good or better than the original.
Naw it's all good, and I do at least trust your opinion on Bebop a lot so there is that. I'll keep that in mind when I return to it. Well, both actually, as I didn't know anything about GiTS' dub.
i'm thinkin about how weird the monogat release order is
Spoiler:
at the end of sodachi lost, ougi meets algae and says, well, that went alright. i lost but next time i'll win. and i know how you deal with old friends now. next time that happens maybe it won't go so well for you.
and the particular spot she is is exactly where she meets nadeko and tells her about the god seal, presumably like ten minutes after talking to algae, thus instigating that part of second season. which like sodachi is about algae meeting an old friend again and fucking her up, except this time it doesn't end well
it's super clear foreshadowing except that sodachi lost was released like a year after nadeko medusa
That's not the show, though. And I'm pretty sure I heard a while back that the studio had indicated they were going to be adapting different material from the first anime, although I can't be certain.

Made in Abyss continues to be the best show of the season.
Also curious about Mahoujin Guru Guru, given the effluence of praise from people who I generally trust about that sort of thing and the fact that the clips I've seen are funny, adorable and quite aesthetically pleasing.
I just watched that video and... okay, makes sense. I don't really disagree with anything he said it it, mostly I was less enthusiastic about how fast-paced everything was since it was kind of overwhelming for me personally. I ended up trying the original Mahoujin Guruguru anime for comparison and I kind of liked it more just because the events of the first episode of 2017 Mahoujin Guruguru are like three entire episodes of 1994 Mahoujin Guruguru.

She, by the by. Although I don't think she's out as trans on Youtube, so. (Honestly I'm kinda very mixed on her content in general, but I'm not sure how to articulate that, especially now.)
I'll maybe check out Mahoujin Guru Guru because you seem interested in it and I'unno maybe my take could be helpful for it. Maybe.
She's definitely alluded to it (and certainly makes no bones about being queer) but I wasn't certain and it is sort of ambiguous if you're not familiar with her elsewhere. Generally speaking, though, I enjoy her work, although I get being less fond of it.
I can imagine the breakneck pace of a show like that being a decisive turn-off, but I'm not generally bothered by that.
It is so fucking jarring to see a character in RahXephon that's basically Asuka and then the next episode, her best friend has the voice of actual Asuka
Midway through the episode she breaks down into a rant that might as well have been ripped wholesale from one of the later episodes, except with "Ayato" instead of "Shinji"
because it's a weird alien dictatorship that let him spend his life thinking the entire rest of humanity was dead, and also that he was one? spoilers for like, the first episode

It's the closest-to-canon crack pairing ever

I really hope that it isn't.

Though I only watched the first episode. I basically don't really have any opinion at all on it one way or the other.

It is sincerely quite sweet and pretty funny.
