This is honestly one of the few Sam Kriss articles I've read which I've liked. Sure, it's a bizarre notion, and it's still Sam Kriss, but it's an appropriate topic for his species of maundering.
No wonder patriarchal orders turned the moon into the symbol of everything they were trying to repress; no wonder moon-hate appealed to the Americans and the Soviets of the 1950s, two revolutionary societies that had ossified into a profound conservatism, terrified of chaos and paranoid about subversion.
