  You know I've certainly heard the word "funnel cake" in my life but I guess I never stopped to think about whether or not it actually signified anything to me.

  Come to think of it I ran into the name at various carnivals/county fairs/etc. that I've been to.  I just never tried it out yet, and I haven't gone to enough of them to do so.
  
  My family does have a tradition of being on the stingy side and preferring to avoid junk food, so overpriced carnival food is usually not my fare, hence.  But lately I've just gone ahead and ordered weird stuff myself.
