The only person who complains about me leaving the toilet seat up is also very good at tidying up after putting on make-up, so
this seems like yet another case of different people's bad habits being rolled together into a stereotype based on one of their unrelated common traits
My mom does exactly that, so I can at least sympathize.
Then again, I at least didn't need to be told to shut the toilet seat because I grew up with small birds in the house and it was a drowning hazard to them. I'll still occasionally catch a roommate off guard meticulously leaving the seat down out of habit.
So just a few minutes ago, somebody decided it would be a great idea to leave the toilet seat up, in my own house.
Complaining about the toilet seat and its position shouldn't be a major gripe right now. I'm self-employed, in college, and manage my own assets. I could just wipe the seat off and sit. It's not that big of deal, right? Sure, others should be more responsible, you would think "hey, since she's the primary resident of this abode, maybe I should be respectful and put it down afterwards, clean up after myself". You know, gripes that have been heard for years. But that's not the case. It's obvious that this guest decided to leave it up on purpose so I would notice it.
Actually, I'm not complaining at all anymore, I'm actually scared. Because I was alone when I came home. It shouldn't be up at all.
