when you were listening to the Moldy Peaches before Juno came out in theaters and then all of the sudden people think you are cool because you were humming nobody else but you in the hallways before anyone knew it would be really nice.
I like hard-to-find or less-than-popular music, but I try not to be all holierthanthou about it. Most of it isn't even obscure, just not popular enough to be merchandized on MTV and Fuse and stuff.

I have always used the term hipster (at least in the rare occasion that I use it seriously and not facetiously) to refer to someone who tries to appear cool by claiming they listen to "underground" or "indie" things.
Such people are, in my experience, far more common in real life than on the internet.
