I mean.
The Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies characters don't have the commercial presence they used to have (though I'm fixing that the old-fashioned way: running their cartoons on TV ad nauseam!). LeBron James is, while the savviest self-promoter in the NBA today, not what Michael Jordan was in terms of cultural presence.
It could be a commentary on how Hollywood uses (and, indeed, has used) its treasured Franchise Properties®, but I don't know if that would speak to people, or be funny.
