The dragons look like Disney/Don Bluth characters, but Max and Emmy look like they narrowly escaped becoming Klasky Csupo characters.

The viewer doesn't pay attention to it because there's supposed to be a visual disparity between the siblings and their friends, given the difference in species.
I know nothing else of the show since I haven't actually watched it.
