    It's ok, it sucked.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    no it didn't
  • there is an abandoned, mold-infested building in the center of town that was about two years ago a PathMark grocery store.

    now it just sits there, a symbol for all that is wrong with Carbon County and all that is wrong with America.

    Sorry, seemed relevant to the thread.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    oh man, retail decay
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    i guess nobody else here has fond childhood memories of the Albertsons chain

    but yeah why is the PathMark decaying?
  • Mold problem they didn't have the money to fix, no one's bought the building yet and the problem's only gotten worse over time, so it just sits there.

    The parking lot is a popular skating hangout. Because of course it is.

    I've been to Albertson's. It was the same thing as Jewel-Osco in the midwest.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    well they do own Jewel-Osco
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    anyway all the Albertsons around here either closed or were converted to Safeways once Cerberus Capital Management bought Safeway

    it was part of muh childhood
  • I have cut a caper with the dancing mad god
    I grew up with both Safeway and Albertson's. I honestly prefer Safeway... Safeway tended to have better prices, equivalent products, and you get gas rewards. Win-win.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I grew up with both

    Across the street from it is a Walmart Neighborhood Market that used to be an Albertsons
  • I loved me some Albertsons, I associated it with my grandma because she had it down in Florida.

    Same thing with Publix, though now that we have them nearby it's starting to lose that luster a bit.

    Albertsons buddies ^_^

    There are apparently only three left in Florida :<

    They also drove the last nail into Chrysler's coffin, before it went bankrupt and ended up being snapped up by Fiat

    The staff at the Publix near where we lived in Florida were lovely folks. I think TNS worked at one at one point, or does, and has said good things about them overall.

    Centie went to Publix in Georgia in 2011

    I may or may not have been in the vicinity of one when I visited Florida in 2005

    $1 for a 5-day rental of any NES game

    some of the cartridges didn't work (including Mega Man 6), disappointingly, but those that did included Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Paperboy 2, Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Lost in wackyland, Mario's Time Machine, Mario Is Missing!, and various others
  • these days the local supermarkets and similar stores are:
    * Publix
    * Winn-Dixie
    * Sedano's
    * Bravo
    * Foodtown (non-chain? Asian groceries)
    * PK Oriental Mart (there are several of these with the same name but I don't think it's actually a chain)
    * Target
    * Walmart
