In 2012, what is now ABC Warner bought Lionsgate, and with it, the TV Guide Network. It has never known what to do with this property, and the network, and TVGuide.com, are the only Lionsgate properties that the company still owns. I mulled over retooling the TV channel, and the entire
TV Guide brand, as a one-stop shop for celebration and criticism of all sorts of media: TV series, movies, books, music, and video games. But I'm not sure how well that would work as a linear TV channel.
So I have decided that the channel formerly known as Prevue must give way to something else. What?
- A Spanish version of the sports network ABC Vik, which needs a name
- CNN Street, a CNBC competitor, ABC's first attempt at such, and CNN's second (after the defunct CNNfn, which operated from 1995 to 2004)
- CNN Score, a companion to ABC Vik and CNN's second shot at competing with ESPNEWS (after CNN/SI, which operated from 1996 to 2002)
