Hot summers are worse than cold winters. You can bundle up for cold winters, but the only way to survive a hot summer is by blasting an air conditioner that ultimately produces more heat for everyone else.
I live on the top floor of an apartment. Not only do I get rising heat from everything else, but the AC output of everyone below me floats right up to my windows.
But at a certain point, there's nothing I can do to warm up my hands, as I have poor circulation. I can have two layers of warm gloves on and a hand warmer in my palm, and my fingers will still be so cold they hurt. :/
I go back and forth between whether I hate hot summers or cold winters more. Usually I am convinced whichever is currently happening is worse. Attempting to think rationally I more or less agree with Bee. Even moreso given my current residence doesn't have AC, though I might move in the spring anyway.
On the other hand, winter sucks for all kinds of reasons besides the cold, too. It gets dark early, somehow stepping in snow soaks your feet even though you can't find a hole in your boots anywhere, there's ice to slip on, Christmas is evil...
Yeah, winter has multiple problems besides cold. Snow, ice, crashing your car on the way to work in a blizzard, etc.
And if it gets cold enough, I wanna put gloves on or my fingers will freeze; but then I can't play the fucking guitar, and if I can't play the fucking guitar, well, that is tripleplus ungood.
I mean, I've marched in freezing rain. I know what cold hands feel like and it sucks. But I'd rather have that and have plants and rivers doing well than everything be dead, hot, and bone-dry.
Maybe it's just because I'm from the northwest and that sort of thing is normal for me.
I like warmer weather, so hot summers aren't as big a deal to me as cold winters are. I don't like being cold, I'm prone to wear hoodies and such if it gets anywhere around or below the early 60's. I also dislike early sunsets, so.
Keep in mind that I've lived in the South for most of my life, though.

I prefer Too Hot over Too Cold just because when it's too hot, I don't have to spend two whole minutes to throw on three extra layers every time I take the dogs for a walk.
Freezing rain is bad, but usually any time there's bad wind chill is what gets to me. Being out in -9F wind chill for hours is terrible, and there's no defending against it where my hands and feet are concerned.

Summer doesn't have Christmas, but as a grown-up person I despise Christmas anyway.

Or the early spring, when it's warm, but there's still a chill in the air.
I'm from the North, I cope with the cold better than the warmth.
