I don't understand the appeal of Donald Trump

Like, even before his latest attempt to become the president.

He has always been loud, angry, and mean. He has accomplished nothing worth celebrating and his greatest accomplishment is coming out of the right womb.

    Some people who feel down on their luck turn to positive sources of inspiration and cooperation to lift themselves up.

    But some other people, especially people who feel they've been treated unfairly by the powers/circumstances that be, turn to resentment.  That resentment asks for someone to avenge them, and someone who is an asshole could easily be such a person.

    As much as Trump is a failure as a businessman and a decent human being, he's GREAT at advertising himself.

    His continual positioning of himself as excellent and this alpha male who clawed his way to the top echelon of humanity just baffles me though

    Trump is self-branding all the way down. 

    There is no center, there is no "real Trump", there is nothing driving him other than a desire to be, in an abstract sense, At The Top.

    It's a very uniquely American sort of monstrous egotism.
