I need contemporary jazz recs, I know jazz isn't dead and I need people (like Sredni and TNS and anyone else in the know) to post some jazz here for me
Kamasi Washington's The Epic came out last year and that was one of the rare jazz records that was so well-regarded I was hearing about it in my (decidedly non-jazz) circles. Maybe start there.
also, Madlib's Shades Of Blue is a jazz/rap hybrid that is more equally weighted than most of those, and that's only about 10 years old, and is really, really good.
San Antonio has a great jazz radio station, and you can stream their broadcast online at krtu.org. They play a very thorough mix of old and new jazz; about the only thing I haven't heard from them is the really abrasive free jazz, like Peter Bröntzmann or John Zorn.
I'm really not that well-versed in jazz, but here are a couple suggestions for recent jazz:
1. Platina Jazz
Swedish pianist/remixer/composer, perhaps best known internationally for his work for anime series, has a series of anime-themed jazz albums by this name, performed by fellow Swedes.
