I'm reading a very, very old scanlation of Eastern & Little Nature Deity, the first of the Touhou manga about the three fairies. This thing is a relic.

I love this blurb also. Including usage of "demons" instead of youkai and the alternate transliteration "Gensokyou".

gratuitous mid-2000s translation notes are my favorite thing.

You could easily have made this pun work ("light"/"lighthearted") and then just stuck a TN also but that would not be mid-2000s enough.
