I turned on voltron tho

look at all these background characters we're never going to see again
lotta stuff happening in the first 15 minutes here
they don't take long to cut to the chase eh
I'm having a hard time figuring out who the actual main character is

there is a lot to be said for this sequence of a robotic lion tumbling through the sky
and now into space
kinda getting flashbacks to the bestworst parts of Transformers Cybertron but I kinda think all CGI robots are like that

I wonder how many plot decisions in this show will be dictated by "the lion wants to [....]"
this show was clearly made for people like 6-8 years younger than me but it's still like pretty alright
not afraid to dive into the trope bag for "magic booming voices". Always a classic.
ah and the best character possible enters
her name is Allura that is fantastic

like we started this episode on Pluto with a mysterious kidnapping and now we're thousands of lightyears from earth and there are space elves who have been asleep for 10,000 years (exactly 10,000 years)
somehow this is all one episode?
are they just gonna use the same shot of the alien overlord any time he shows up
"I can't believe your civilization created such advanced technology 10,000 years ago" PLUTO MAN THAT IS NOT HOW THAT WORKS

I really genuinely admire this show's commitment to cramming as many cliches into 30 minutes as possible and just running with them 30,000 miles away
ahh now they're gonna split up so they can spotlight each of the characters in smaller groups before bringing them together later

I really don't know how I'd describe it. I really enjoy it but I suspect that a solid like 2/3rds of the population would watch it and just be like "this is stupid"

which it is, but that's kind of why I love it. It's overflowing with science fiction, fantasy, and science fantasy cliches and kinda revels in them.

I love stuff that's really campy because it's stupid, but there's a point to it. It's on purpose and there's a bunch of lovable charm to it

DreamWorks Animation seems to have been way kinder to the DreamWorks Classics properties than prior stewards have

Their Mr. Peabody & Sherman show, while not the way I'd have it look, is also very well-considered

Oddly, while i much prefer the art of the original series, I think the 3D series had more interesting storyline. Even if it was kinda...awkward at times.

So I'm quite curious how this will turn out.

Pretty much my reaction when I watched it.

Also: Allura did not have the voice that I expected her to have, seeing pictures of her all over social media and not actually watching any clips. Which was a surprise, but a good surprise.
