I don't understand Odradek's disdain for The Simpsons.
also I think the only time I have heard the X-Men cartoon referenced was that one video that is just a bunch of scenes from it randomly cut together into a nonsequitorial mess. That video is great.

It ruined the communcation abilities of a generation
i know you're talking about a real thing but it's like
'ruined the communication abilities of a generation' makes it sound like there's this group of people who love the X-Men cartoon, hate 3D Mario and quote the Simpsons all the time, when it's more like, a lot of people quote the Simpsons from time to time but very few people quote them incessantly, and the other two are just mildly popular opinions i guess
Well that doesn't surprise me, because nerd critics like reference humour, and the Simpsons is an easy reference to make that most of their viewers are going to get
idk it's just when you say 'Simpsonskids' i'm justl like, those are not a thing, lots of people watched that show and it's very quotable, they're not like a subculture or hobbyist group or anything like that
It's this whole area of culture I am locked out of, because I didn't have the childhood Simpsonskids had, which apparently involved being locked in a room playing the first ten seasons on loop for five years.
I went and watched the most famous episodes once but it was not enough, because "getting" conversations between Simpsonskids, who are frustratingly omnipresent requires knowing shit like what Krusty's dad sounds like
Nothing in life should EVER require knowing what Krusty's dad sounds like.
yesterday everyone was talking about Milo's fursona and it took literally 3 hours for me to figure out what they were talking about because nobody would actually mention who they were talking about
I’m not saying you should be magically avoidant or however you might respond to this, but muting one Twitter account is a reasonable thing to do in such a circumstance.

the only people i've seen talking about milo's fursona are the ones who actually linked to it and i am worse off for having seen that
frankly, all of humanity is worse off for having paid attention to milo yidontgiveafuck after he stopped paying his employees before he even ended up at fucking breitbart
Honestly, I know that there are things that people reference—that I reference—that, in relying on that knowledge for their full impact, alienate some folks who don't share that set of interests, but I smile regardless, because it reminds me that some people do, in fact, care about what I care about. I just try not to overdo it.
I'll admit the love for Steven Universe kind of puzzles me. The show just irritates me for some reason in a lot of the same ways Spongebob did. But people aren't obnoxious about it so...meh.

idk what to say here
i feel locked out of the conversation when people talk about the Premier League, because i don't follow it
or when people talk about stuff that's "all over" twitter or facebook, when i am on neither
so there's a popular twitter account that posts only Simpsons quotes, and people retweet it
suddenly this is making more sense

People will still not shut up about reverend Lovejoy or whatever dumb unfunny character
It will at least make your Twitter feed more pleasant for you to read, if nothing else.
to me
MLP:FIM was just an OK cartoon! Steven Universe is legit really good and impressive, in so many respects!
(disclaimer: it's actually fine to be indifferent to SU)
it really captures his douchiness
