I think Kevin vanquished that in the first Home Alone.

if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Have I ever told you my favorite color is blue
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
That was a really good scene, actually. All the creepiest scenes to me were stuff like that: Something happens, but it's subtle and meta enough that you could easily miss it were it not for the emphasis.

I actually have a list of good follow-up stories for that movie if anyone's interested.

    OK!

Potentially interesting thematic follow-ups to In the Mouth of Madness:
    • Ramsey Campbell, "The Depths" and "Errol Undercliffe: A Tribute" [Bonus round: The Grin of the Dark]
    • Charles L. Grant, "A Garden of Blackred Roses" and "Something There Is"
    • Thomas Ligotti, "Alice's Last Adventure" and "Notes on the Writing of Horror: A Story" [Bonus round: "'Sideshow', and Other Stories"]
    • Mark Morris, "Feeding Frenzy"
    • Peter Straub, "Mr. Aickman's Air Rifle"

Danke. Will look into all of these, but especially the Campbell. I've really enjoyed what I've read so far.

Also worth a look in the Straub category: Mrs. God, which is also about writing and the disintegration of reality.
