  Probably officially, though my more recent fascination with them was brought about by a Verge story about the second-generation Nixie watch.

  I've known about Nixie tubes since I was little, though I remember not really understanding what they were at first and thinking they were like the mini-LEDs in my bio-dad's TI-30.

  (And then there was the Panaplex panels that a lot of 1970s and early 1980s stuff used. I remember Kmart used old DTS cash registers that used them until, like, 1988 or so.)
