What's so funny about the Loss meme?

B^Uckley nothing, because CAD is deeply boring to me.

• At this point I think there's more humor to be derived from the lengths people will go to make an image recognizable as loss.jpg than loss.jpg itself.

Ex-act-ly.
• I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I admit I'm kind of jealous because Centie seems to always recognize it immediately while I don't always.

it's ok Anonus, i never got what was supposed to be funny about baneposting
• “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Baneposting is one of those things where it's funny because isolation and repetition has gone from exposing the absurdity of the scene's elements in context to divorcing them from that context entirely and turning them into a microcosm of the absurd in general.
• You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
For me the fun thing about loss.jpg is seeing how abstract people can make the pattern while still keeping recognizable.
• Yeah, looks like people are finally appreciating the fun of a pattern recognition meme. As much as I am not a fan of loss.jpg specifically, I have to appreciate this aspect.

sure

i mean i guess i get the joke at this point but i find it kind of personally insulting so i'm still not laughing

same

It's not so bad in here.  The nights are the hardest.  I dream of freedom sometimes.
• My dreams exceed my real life
I mean it was a meme in the first place because of how maudlin and out of tone with the rest of CAD it is. See here

But now it's the abstractness

pattern memes are always better than reference memes

this is why xzibit is still and will always be better than inception
• @tachyon Why did you find baneposting personally insulting?
• Are YOU Bane?  DDDD:
• it's the BANE of someone's existence
• Touch the cow. Do it now.
I like loss.jpg since it demonstrates the futility of webcomics as a medium in general
• You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
You would say that
• Touch the cow. Do it now.
it's like the hopeless banality of the whole medium in four panels, I love it
• I have cut a caper with the dancing mad god
I've never cared for it. No particular reason why.

My lack of care is also why I'm usually bad at recognizing it, too. I can understand the appeal, I suppose, but I do not share in it.

Cuz when i watched the movie i found the scene entertaining for the reasons the director presumably intended, and i feel like the implication is i'm dumb or tone-deaf for not recognizing it as a bad scene nor being amused by it on some ironic meta level.

But then, many of my favourite works of fiction are webcomics, so i don't know.  Whatevs.
• kill living beings
I think baneposting went way beyond the original film, scene, quality, anything, being involved at all
• kill living beings
Loss too, I mean, it's not a good comic but this is way beyond involving it
• the main thing that makes baneposting isn't the scene itself, it's the repetition

it's like, you know when you repeat a word so many times, it doesn't sound like a word anymore?

the repetition just utterly disassembles what is otherwise a maybe slightly awkward but generally decent scene into a pile of gobledigook

sorry for making you feel insulted i guess? that wasn't my intention

.....

....

for you

Yeah, like Sredni said.  Which is a joke i can appreciate, except i guess i'm still a bit irritated by the original joke.

Anyway nah you're cool. i thought i was over this anyway, i guess i'm just not in the greatest mood right now.

I thought the point of Baneposting was that junior high schoolers thought it was funny that a few seconds of script could be sufficiently divorced from context to sound like a porno with rather little effort.

I mean that's hardly anything new.  Especially for Batman.

iirc i initially thought people were actually misinterpreting the line as something that didn't make sense in the context, and that irritated me cuz i thought it was pretty obvious what was intended and the other interpretation seemed like a huge stretch.

But then apparently during the AMA the actor said he intended it to sound that way.

the main thing i knew about that movie is that the poster designers cleverly used the location of tom hardy and tom hardy in the poster vs the reviews to make a two-star review look like a four-star review with two of the stars hidden and i can sort of see why

also mad max was good
